Carl is Founding Senior Partner of Mathison & Mathison, a Florida based law firm specializing in civil and commercial litigation and transactional law. He has been named as one of the top lawyers in Florida, rated AV by his peers in the Martindale Hubble Law Directory and named in The National Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. In 1991 he was elected President of the Bar Association. 

Prior to his retirement, Carl had been lead counsel in over 300 jury, non-jury and arbitration proceedings throughout the country. Beyond the civil courtrooms, Carl has received numerous awards as a Distinguished Lecturer and is an author and adjunct professor.

Carl was also Chairman and CEO of ProSports and Entertainment International, Inc. In that capacity he served as a Certified Athlete Contract Advisor and financial consultant for members of the National Football League and PGA Players Association and has been a legal advisor and financial planner involved in the drafting and adoption of the Florida Student Athlete Statute and NCAA compliance, regulations and procedures.
