Wholesale Inventories include the sales and inventory statistics from the inventoried products as a result of the manufacturing process. The sales figures do not reflect personal consumption figures as the products remain inventory under this survey. Wholesale inventories may change the aggregate inventory profile of the economy which can influence the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) forecast.

Wholesale Inventories are released at 10:00 a.m. around the fifth business day of each month by The Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce.
